Today once again, we begin to read from the Gospel of Matthew. This will continue during the current Liturgical year which will end on November 22. Matthew's Gospel is usually dated today in the 80s/90s of the first century. Father, we are your witnesses that a great light has come into the world through the coming of your Son, Jesus Christ. Direct each thought, each effort of our life, so that the limits of our faults and weaknesses may not obscure the vision of your glory or keep us from the peace you have promised. The Lord is my light and my help.
