Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time - October 22nd, 2000

In todays Gospel Jesus tried to convince his followers that success in his kingdom does not consist in prestige and power, but in following the ways of Jesus, their leader.
Teach me to listen, Lord, to those nearest to me, my family and friends, my co-workers. Help me to be aware that no matter what words I hear, the message is, "Accept the person I am, Listen to me". Teach me to listen, Lord to those far from me - the whisper of the hopeless, the plea of the forgotten, the cry of the anguished.
