Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time - October 8, 2000
In this Sunday's Gospel Jesus shows that He believes marriage is a very special sacrament. He also shows that children are very special too - wonderful gifts from God to parents. The permanent and indissoluble unity of marriage is preached by Jesus as being God's plan. The Christian view of marriage stands in conflict with much modern ways of thought. Being faithful has always required effort and courage. Lord, it is always easy for me to accept the nice things that are written for my instruction in the Bible. But there are some passages that demand changes in my attitudes and a change in my lifestyle. Grant me the help to accept these words of scripture and the strength to do what I am supposed to do. Dear Lord, Bless all married people and all families and keep them in Your loving care.
